Your Voice Can Help Shape the Future of Healthcare
Oxford Health Systems, the City of Oxford, and UAB Medicine are working together to bring a UAB St. Vincent’s St. Clair Freestanding Emergency Department and specialty clinics to Oxford. This transformational project will expand access to high-quality emergency care and specialty medical services for families throughout our region.
Before this project can move forward, it must receive approval for a Certificate of Need (CON) from the Alabama State Health Planning and Development Agency (SHPDA). An important part of that process is demonstrating strong community support.
Why This Project Matters
The proposed UAB Freestanding Emergency Department will help improve healthcare access by:
- Bringing advanced emergency care closer to home.
- Reducing travel time for patients experiencing medical emergencies.
- Connecting patients with one of the nation’s leading academic health systems, UAB Medicine.
- Expanding access to specialty physicians and outpatient services.
- Supporting the continued growth and health of communities throughout East Alabama.
This project represents a significant investment in the future of healthcare for our region and will help ensure residents have access to the care they need when every minute matters.
